Stop Motion

In our 3rd year of animation we get to learn stop motion animation. The video above is the first test we did in class. We needed to have the cars nearly collide on frame 13 and then crash on frame 35. We also needed to have one car do two loops while the other car did one loop. It was actually really hard to do. =(

Action Analysis Project - Leica Reel (Potty Training)

Leica reel for my action analysis project. Only 5 seconds of this 30 second story will be animated. My story is about a little boy who needs to go to the washroom after drinking many bottles of milk. He finds out that the toilet seat is way too high for him. He decides to use toilet paper to boost him up. The toilet paper falls onto its side and the little boy looses his balance. The little boy ends up flying face first into the large toilet.

Action Analysis Project - Coming Soon

Decided to create poster for upcoming project.
Thought it be a good exercise for digital painting.

Italian Street

Haven't posted anything for a long time so I decided to draw the first image I found on google. I'm not even sure if this is an italian street LOL
A cool thing I noticed, while refrencing off this photo, is that the street lights hang from these cables that connect to the buildings. cool stuff.

Junk Yard - Another Possible 4th Year Film

I had this idea about a garbage man finding something magical in his garbage dump. This film would be incredibly hard to make because the layouts would be too hard to draw. I found that most of the time spent was drawing and colouring the small pieces of garbage in the dump piles. Maybe it be a film I'd like to make after school. =)

Summer School Stuff - Incomplete

I took this animation course over the summer that teaches us how to sync animation to music. The music I chose to sync my animation to comes from the intro of Pixar's Monsters Inc. I didn't have time to finish the project but here's what I got. I don't think I'll ever finish it because I've just gotten too frustrated with this piece. =(
If you didn't understand the animation...I don't blame you lol
It starts off with a magician pulling random stuff out of his hat. He eventually finds out there is a slimey monster in his magical hat. When the monster comes out of the hat, the magician uses the bouncing balls to hit the monster. Having little effect on the monster, the magician decides to use his wand to turn the monster into a rabbit.I don't know how I came up with such a silly scenario..it just kinda developed while I was animating.

The first half is near complete. The second half still needs a lot more inbetweens. The monster still needed to be animated. The slime the magician was looking at still needed to be animated.

4th Year Film Idea

Here is one idea I have for my 4th year film. Its about this really old guy who wants to get to the moon. I'm not going to say much about it...but I will post a drawing every now and then. =)
I've been experimenting with some of the different effects in photoshop. I really like how the clouds turned out...BUT...I'm not a fan of the ground.

Final Project for 2nd Year ANIMATION!

The last project for the school year. All I had to do is colour one of the layouts digitally.
Its currently 6:32am and its the last day of school. I'm happy and very tired.
I'm done. I can finally rest and begin worrying about finding a summer job.

Beak Animation - More Cowbell

Final animation project for 2nd year. We had to sync dialogue to a character with a beak. I got this dialogue from a sketch in SNL.

I had to cut to the face for the last bit cause of deadline issues. If I were to do full body animation for the entire sequence, I would DIE.

I'm not sure I can do this for a living. Its toooooo hard.

Last Batch of Lifedrawings for 2nd Year =(

One thing I've learned this year is that you got to keep practicing lifedrawing.....even though you feel like your getting worse. Its rewarding to see a slight improvement over the drawings I did in the beginning of the year. THEN AGAIN.....I've just noticed that most of these drawings are drawings of the models back. WHICH MEANS.....the ones I did of the front didn't make the cut. I still got to keep practicing.

Layout Project - Medieval Ages (Rough Final)

Our final layout project for 2nd year animation. Sad =(
Our assignment was to design three layouts for our storyboards. The layouts had to reflect a certain period in history. I chose the medieval ages cause I thought it'd be fun. Turns out....its not. =O
Still to come are the digitized moving versions of these layouts.
Its kinda hard to see....but I think it looks cooler when you get to see all the layers.
Never again will I draw each brick...that was a pain and a half.

Muzzle Sync Animation - What Happens When I Get Upset?!

Line taken from an old movie called "Little Monsters". Enjoyed working on the project. My fellow classmates thought I'd would crumble under the pressure of doing a 15 second animation.

DONE!

192 frames.....but I'm almost positive it could have been done in less.

klsdfjlkls nveroksfn apsadk.....I'm tired

More Lifedrawing

Larry,Terry,Mary and Gary - Character Design

Our assignment was to create 4 characters in a specific time period. I chose the medieval time period. We had to create a hero, a heroine, a villain, and a comic relief character.
I liked how these turned out =)

Human Sync Animation

This line was taken from Talladega Nights. Took me a lonnnng time. I wished I spent more time working out the character design before animating. I ran into so many problems with the design of the character. ANASLKLSKDJL!!!!!!! But I learned a valuable lesson...and that is to never start animating unless your 200% sure you like the design of your character. Hopefully my next project will be more successful then this one. =(
